Late last year, Pantone released it’s colour of the year – Marsala. So why Marsala? According to the team at Pantone, “Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth… Marsala’s plush characteristics are enhanced when the color is applied to textured surfaces, making it an ideal choice for rugs and upholstered living room furniture.”
If you are looking for new decorating ideas, our team of interior designers at Polygon have curated a few different ways you can add a little bit of Marsala into your home.
PILLOWS, ORNAMENTS & CURTAINS
Accent pieces can easily be placed into your existing space, adding some touches of colour without spending a lot. With a variety of options and a varying degree of price points to choose from, these are fun elements you can change to freshen up your home.
Use Marsala to paint an accent wall in your bedroom, bathroom or wherever you want to add an extra boost of warmth. While Benjamin Moore doesn’t carry a Marsala paint colour specifically, Maple Leaf Red, is the closest match. Or take the pantone colour (PANTONE 18-1438) to your nearest paint shop and they might be able to colour match.
MAKE A BOLDER STATEMENT
If accessories aren’t your thing and you want to use more of this colour – be bold and use it as a focal point of your living space. A large sofa or accent chair can be used as central pieces. From there, pair with more neutral coloured accessories including gray, taupe, or white.
