IN THE COMMUNITY

Driven by our commitment to making valuable and enduring contributions to the communities in which we build, Polygon prides itself on listening closely to the needs of both public and private interests. We are dedicated to positively contributing to each city’s economy and quality of life, by creating welcoming neighbourhoods for new residents.

Following is a sampling of some of Polygon’s most recent community contributions:

POLYGON SUPPORTS THE UNION GOSPEL MISSION

For the seventh consecutive year, Polygon is proud to support Union Gospel Mission. UGM is a volunteer organization dedicated to meeting the needs of hungry and homeless men, women and children in Greater Vancouver. To date, Polygon has raised over $425,000 for this worthwhile organization through our highly popular ‘12 Days of Christmas Raffle’. This year's proceeds have gone towards the purchase of a maintenance van, enabling UGM to service their facilities throughout the Lower Mainland. Please see 2007 Prize List and Winners List for details.

TRADITIONAL CANOE CARVING AT KLAHANIE

In keeping with its commitment to the arts in Port Moody, Polygon has commissioned native artist Ray Natrall to carve a traditional hunting canoe for the Canoe Club at Klahanie. During the ‘Artist in Residence Weekend’, hundreds of people from across the lower mainland enjoyed the opportunity to watch Ray create his new masterpiece in a culturally time-honoured tradition.

POLYGON EVERGREEN ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAM

Polygon has recently made a three-year, $75,000 commitment to Coquitlam’s highly-regarded Evergreen Cultural Centre. They will make a wide variety of fine and performing arts programs available to local elementary and high school students beginning in the 2006 school year.

PROUD SPONSOR OF COQUITLAM'S SALMON COME HOME FESTIVAL

On October 30th, Polygon was pleased to sponsor the Scott and Hyde Creek Streamkeepers organization in Coquitlam as the community hosted its annual Salmon Come Home Event. This event celebrates the return of salmon to Hoy and Scott Creeks. Hundreds of families enjoyed the opportunity to view the spawning salmon and learn about the incredible annual journey of the magnificent local salmon population.

POLYGON SPONSORS PORT MOODY'S FESTIVAL OF ARTS

Since 2003, Polygon has sponsored the Port Moody Arts Centre’s Festival of Arts, and recently made a three-year commitment to be the lead sponsor for the entire festival. This spectacular event will run from April 13 to 22 and will feature a variety of visual art exhibits, theatrical performances and musical shows.  You can find out more information about this year’s events at www.pomoartsfestival.ca
